Field experience with process equipment, in one place

Sorque is a peer-to-peer review board for industrial process equipment. Engineers, mechanics, and technicians rate pumps, valves, instruments, and other equipment on how it actually performs in service.

Why Sorque exists

Practical knowledge about process equipment is scattered. Vendor brochures describe equipment at its best, forum threads are hard to search, and the most useful details, such as which seal kept failing or how long a replacement actuator took to arrive, usually stay in hallway conversations and shift handovers.

Sorque collects that field experience in one place. Reviews come from people who have operated, installed, or maintained the equipment, and every review is scored on the same five metrics so they can be compared. The board is peer-to-peer: everyone who reads reviews here is asked to contribute one.

How ratings work

Each review scores the equipment on five metrics:

Effectiveness
How well does it achieve its intended purpose, e.g., measurement accuracy of sensors
Reliability
How likely is it to fail or seize
Maintenance
Effort and attention needed to maintain high quality operation
Efficiency
Performance/cost - can be energy, economic, or other costs
Downtime/replaceability
Length of time from breakdown to operation and ease of securing replacements

Scale: 1 (poor) - 10 (great), N/A (Not applicable)

A metric can be marked N/A when it does not apply to the equipment or falls outside the reviewer’s experience. The scores shown for each piece of equipment are averages of all numeric ratings submitted for that metric. N/A ratings are excluded from the averages rather than counted as zero.

Reviews are grouped by equipment name, ignoring case and punctuation. Include the manufacturer and model so your review lands alongside others for the same equipment.

Who it is for

Sorque is written by and for the people who keep process equipment running:

  • Process, reliability, and maintenance engineers selecting or troubleshooting equipment
  • Mechanics and millwrights who rebuild, align, and repair it
  • Instrument, electrical, and controls technicians who install, calibrate, and service it

It is also useful to anyone specifying or buying equipment who wants to hear from people who have lived with it, not only from the people selling it.

Community guidelines

  • Review equipment you have operated, installed, or maintained. Second-hand accounts are not reviews.
  • Describe the service conditions. Process fluid, duty cycle, temperature, pressure, and environment give a rating its context.
  • Leave out confidential, proprietary, or export-controlled information, including drawings, process data, and anything covered by an NDA or your employer’s policies.
  • Disclose vendor or distributor affiliations. If you make, sell, distribute, or service the equipment, say so in the review.
  • Do not include personal information about yourself or others, such as names, phone numbers, or email addresses.
  • Keep it professional. Critique the equipment and the support behind it, not people.

Important

Reviews are individual opinions based on each reviewer’s own experience and service conditions. They are not engineering advice or certification.

Before selecting, installing, modifying, or servicing equipment, always follow the manufacturer’s documentation, applicable codes and standards, and your site’s procedures, including management of change (MOC) and lockout/tagout.

Moderation

Reviews that break these guidelines may be removed. To report a review, use the contact page and include the equipment name, the review date, and what concerns you.

Share your field experience

The board is only as useful as the experience people bring to it. If you have run, rebuilt, or replaced a piece of process equipment, your review helps the next person deciding what to install.
