Privacy policy

What we collect when you read reviews, post one or contact us, and the choices you have. In short: no accounts, no advertising or analytics cookies, and reviews are published anonymously.

Who we are

This site, sorque.com, is operated by Sorque (“we”, “us”), a review board where engineers, mechanics, and technicians rate industrial process equipment. We are responsible for the personal information described here and you can reach us at contact@sorque.com.

Reviews you post

You do not need an account to post a review. When you submit one, we store:

  • the equipment name you enter, plus a normalized copy used to group reviews of the same equipment;
  • your five ratings (Effectiveness, Reliability, Maintenance, Efficiency, and Downtime/replaceability), each from 1 to 10 or N/A;
  • your review text;
  • the date and time you submitted it.

Reviews are published publicly and anonymously: anyone can read them, and we do not attach your name, email address or IP address to them. Reviews are stored in Google Cloud Firestore.

When you mark a review helpful or not helpful, we only add one to that review’s public vote count. We do not record who voted.

Please keep personal and confidential information out of reviews, such as your name, a colleague’s name, your employer, a site location or proprietary process details. Everything in a review is visible to everyone.

Messages you send us

The contact form asks for your name, email address, an optional role (Engineer, Mechanic, Technician, or Other) and your message. We store these, with the time you sent them, in Google Cloud Firestore and use them only to read and respond to your message. We do not add you to any mailing list.

Information stored in your browser

The site does not set cookies. It uses your browser’s built-in storage for a few small items that are not sent to us:

  • sorque:landing-seen (localStorage): the date the landing page was first shown in this browser, so the first-visit prompt appears only once.
  • sorque:votes (localStorage): which reviews you voted on from this browser and which way, so your votes stay highlighted and you can change or remove them.
  • While the site runs in local demo mode, reviews and contact messages you submit are saved only in this browser’s localStorage (sorque:local-reviews, sorque:local-contact-messages and sorque:local-vote-counts). They are not sent to us and other visitors cannot see them.

You can remove all of these at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.

Analytics, cookies and fonts

We do not use analytics, advertising or social media cookies, tracking pixels or analytics scripts, and we do not track or profile visitors by IP address. The site’s fonts are bundled with the site when it is built, so your browser does not contact Google Fonts or any other font service.

Hosting and server logs

Firebase Hosting, a Google service, delivers the site’s pages. Like any web server, it processes your IP address, browser user agent and request details (such as the page requested and the time) to deliver the site and protect it against abuse, and these may be recorded in server logs. When the site loads or saves reviews, your browser also connects to Google Cloud Firestore, which processes the same kind of connection information.

Who we share information with

Our only service provider is Google LLC, which provides Firebase Hosting and Cloud Firestore and processes information on our behalf under its data processing terms. Reviews are public by design. Otherwise, we do not sell or share personal information for advertising, and we disclose it only when required by law or to protect the site and its users.

Legal bases (EEA and UK visitors)

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, we rely on:

  • Legitimate interests to run the review board, publish and moderate reviews, and keep the site secure and working, including server logs.
  • Steps you ask us to take, or your consent to answer contact messages. You can withdraw consent at any time by asking us to delete your message.

How long we keep information

  • Reviews: for as long as the board operates, unless you ask us to remove one.
  • Contact messages: up to 24 months after our last exchange, then deleted.
  • Server logs: according to Google’s retention periods for Firebase services.
  • Browser storage: until you clear it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct it if it is inaccurate;
  • delete it, including asking us to remove a review you wrote;
  • object to or restrict how we use it, and receive a copy in a portable format.

Because reviews are anonymous, we cannot link one to you automatically. To request removal, email us the equipment name, the approximate date and part of the review text; we may ask a follow-up question to confirm it is yours.

California residents: under the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and to have it corrected or deleted, and we will not discriminate against you for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law.

To exercise any of these rights, email contact@sorque.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. If you are in the EEA or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

International transfers

Google may process information in the United States and other countries where it operates. When personal information from the EEA, UK or Switzerland is transferred, it is protected by safeguards such as the Standard Contractual Clauses in Google’s data processing terms.

Children

Sorque is a professional resource and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

All traffic to the site is encrypted with TLS (HTTPS). Database access rules limit the public site to reading published reviews, adding new reviews and contact messages, and changing a review’s vote count by one; contact messages cannot be read back through the site. No online service is perfectly secure, so please keep confidential information out of reviews and messages.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so clearly on this page.
